Cathy Jenkins Art
Springfield native, Cathy Jenkins, began painting with acrylics and water colors at an early age. Cathy’s artistic ability was discovered and encouraged by an art teacher from a special needs school that she (Cathy) attended. Cathy’s developmentally disabilities (speech, hearing, and language) did not discourage her enthusiasm and excitement for painting. She participated in an art show at the Springfield Museum of Art several years ago with a provider agency. Cathy sold every painting in that show and received a request to paint a duplicate of one her paintings. Her inspirations for her paintings came from the family farm she lived on for many years. Cathy’s passion for the floral gardens, the colorful farm scenery, and the personal family moments are evident in her paintings.
